A Christmas Carol |
An arrangement for SATB choir, a-cappella, of a carol setting for solo voice and piano by Charles Ives. I have seen attribution of the text and melody both to Mr. Ives and as “traditional.” This arrangement is in a slow, flowing, reflexive, 6/8 meter in the manner of a pastoral. The melody is in the soprano for verse one and in the tenor for verse two. There is some minor division principally in the soprano and base parts. (2:53)

for SATB choir with organ accompaniment |

The Truth from Above |
This is a setting of a traditional English Carol for Christmas or Advent for medium solo voice with accompaniment by either keyboard (Harpsichord would be preferred) acoustic guitar or harp. The melody flows freely in the manner of a troubadour telling a story. The accompaniment is basically chordal with some minor polyphony during the interior verses. (2:57)
